SUN. June 20th - Ravenna Country Market Fathers Day Bar - B - Que fundraiser for the new Town of
SAT. SEPT. 4TH - THE GROUND BREAKING CELEBRATION AND BBQ - HURRAY!!! HURRAY!!! Help celebrate the Thornbury Community Family Health Centre ground breaking with a "BBQ and Bands" from 12 noon to 3:00pm in the Cidery (east side) Parking Lot. Everyone welcome.
JUNE 26TH AND 27TH 2010 – First Annual Meaford Dodge Rodeo at the Meaford Fairgrounds, to support the community, and the Community Family Health Centres. Over 200 Cowboys and Cowgirls will compete for the over $250,000.00 in prize money that is available on the Rodeo Tour. These contestants, their families, vendors and of course the spectators make up the approximately five thousand people that The Dodge Rodeo Tour can bring into a community. SAT. MAY 29TH – 8:00AM – Everyone welcome for The Great Divide, the community’s’ premier plant sale at 34 Russell St. West, Thornbury (just east of the Thornbury/Clarksburg Union Cemetery) featuring home-grown perennials including a wide selection of daylily, hosta and astilbe. A variety of other perennials in limited quantities including iris, echinacea (coneflower), bleeding heart, allium, sedum, hens and chickens, ferns and many more. Arrive at 8 am for widest choice. Proceeds going to support the Community Family Health Centres.
APRIL 9TH and 10TH - ANNUAL DOCS ON ICE CHARITY HOCKEY TOURNAMENT - The Georgian Triangle will host over 800 doctors in this annual charity hockey event. Over 220 Doctors/Students will play at each of the arenas from 7am to 5pm, with 8 games daily. Volunteers are needed at the Meaford and Thornbury arenas - please help with this entertaining event, or just plan to attend and join in the fun. Visit www.docsonice.ca for more info and a history of this exciting event which this year will benefit the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital.

Thurs. Dec. 30th - The Lora Bay Olympic Torch Run brought together residents and their family and friends for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Thanks to residents Chris Rudge, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee, and his wife former Olympian Janet Nutter, young and old alike experienced the thrill of running with the Olympic Torch. The days events which also included a raffle of Olympic Memorabilia, netted almost $15,000 for our Community Family Health Centres.

Sat. Nov. 7th - "DANCING FOR DOCTORS" - a gala fundraiser at The Raven Grill at Lora Bay, Live Auction and Tapas from 8:00pm to 10:00pm, dancing from 10:00pm to 1:00am. Tickets $125.00, with a substantial tax receipt. For tickets, contact dancingfordoctors@yahoo.ca.

Sat. Oct. 24th - Grist Mill Winery hosts their annual Wine Tasting and Gourmet food at the Beaver Valley Community Centre, plus new this year, a Casino! Proceeds from the casino to CFHC. Details to follow.
Wed. July 29 to Sat. August 22nd - Wm. Shakespeare’s Comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Tennessee Williams’ Masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire play at the Marsh Street Theatre this Summer. The Upper Canada Repertory Company’s summer season is coming to the Georgian Triangle in 2009. Presented in association with The Peak 95.1 FM, two exciting, critically acclaimed shows will light up the Marsh Street Theatre in Clarksburg. A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital and The Community Family Health Centre based in Thornbury. Senior and student tickets are only $10-$15, and a two-show adult pass is only $40 – exceptional value for two quality evenings of entertainment. Call (705) 351-2164 for tickets.

July 1st - Canada Day Celebrations: Thornbury - 8:30-10:30am Pancake Breakfast; 11:00-12:00 Parade; 12:15 Cake Cutting and Singing of the National Anthem; 12:30-2:00 Children's activities, BBQ and Lemonade Stand. Clarksburg - Historical Downtown Scavenger Hunt 1:00-3:00pm. Village at Blue - Free activities all day - street performers, live music, guided family hikes with a free scenic gondola ride down the mountain, splash fountain and scavenger huts.
Sat. July 4th, 8:30 pm - "160 YEARS OF MEMORIES" - Rod & Marj Knott, Doug & Denyse Ardiel, Harold & Bev Ardiel, Bob & Bonnie Holden are married 40 years! Please join them in celebrating at the Beaver Valley Community Centre. No gifts, please. Donations would be appreciated towards the Community Family Health Centre. OLYMPIC TORCH CELEBRATION AT LORA BAY

On a chilly winter day, the residents, their families and friends celebrated the Olympic spirit with a special Olympic Torch run through their community, followed by a rousing rafffle of Olympic memorabilia and homemade tummy warming chili. Patti Kendall representing The Village at Blue Mountains presented to Lynn Johnston, Chair of the North East Grey Health Clinics, a $4,000 cheque at the fund raiser "Dancing for Doctors" held Saturday evening at the Raven Grill. The funds were raised at The Village's Taste of Blue and Geo-Cache events, and will be used toward the Community Family Health Centres. Construction is anticipated to start in the Spring of 2010 in Thornbury. |

"Kids" of all ages enjoyed fun competitions at the Family Sports Challenge hosted by volunteers of the Community Family Health Centres Fundraising Committee, at Tomahawk Park in Thornbury on July 19th, 2009. Thanks to several local merchants who donated the prizes.

BARN DANCE! 
Howdy!! Take one Majestic Horse Barn, a sizable smoked pig with a cadre of cooks, add a talented team of trimmers, stir in several spirited stompers with ears for a caller who can 'Scatter the Cats', toss in a mess of greens and a dollop of decadent desserts, foam up some frosty brews and some fruit of the vine, and whadyaget?? The recipe for one Honkin' Happy Hoedown sponsored by the Lora Bay Residents Association at the Wilkinsons' Barn on September 27, 2008 - all to support our Community Family Health Centres. Thanks, pardeners for raising just over $5,200 for the Centre!

TASTE OF BLUE 
Community Family Health Centres wishes to extend a most sincere thank you to Patti Kendall, Intrawest Events, Bill Vomvolakis of Tholos, and the Intrawest Village Association for hosting September 13th, 2008, "Taste of Blue" event which resulted in a $4,000 donation to our health centres campaign.

VOLUNTEER BBQ 
On July 31st, members of the Lora Bay Residents Association held a thank you BBQ for all the volunteers who worked so hard to make our official launch such a success.
JULY 19TH OFFICIAL LAUNCH! 
On July 19, 2008, North East Grey Health Clinics Inc., officially launched its fundraising campaign with an exciting community event at The Blue Mountains town office.
Happenings of the day included horse-drawn carriage rides, participation by our local Fire Dept, the OPP's Collingwood-Blue Mountains detachment, Land Forces Training Centre (LFTC) Meaford, Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotarians, and a BBQ hosted by volunteers from the community. The community heard addresses from dignitaries committed to the success of the clinics initiative - NEGHCI Board Chair Lynn Johnston, Fundraising Committee Chair Wayne MacFarlane, President & CEO of Grey Bruce Health Services, Pat Campbell, Municipality of Meaford Mayor Francis Richardson, and The Blue Mountains Mayor Ellen Anderson. The audience was also treated to a special address by Peter Mansbridge who, as a part-time resident of the area, emphasized the need to attract doctors to our area, and appealed to the community to support this worthwhile cause. BOTTLE DRIVE 
On June 14, 2008, members of the Lora Bay Residents Association gathered themselves and hundreds bottles together and raised $1,300 to support the Community Family Health Centres.
